How to Start Fundraising for WMC
A Successful fundraising campaign depends on your strategy...
be creative, and it will be effective!
There
is no single strategy for success, but here are some ways you can help
support WMC by helping to raise funds that you may not be able to give
yourself!

Father, Sisters, Brothers, Cousins, Aunts, Uncles, Godparents, Best
Friend, Best Buds, Dentist, Doctor, Lawyer, Accountant, Pharmacist,
Clergy, Banker, Veterinarian, Dog Walker, Manicurist, Landlord,
Teachers, Co-workers... all of these people can help you support theater!
All you have to do is ask!

Designing your Stategy for Fundraising
Define your objective:
* Why did you choose to raise funds for Theater and WMC?
* What is your fundraising goal for this campaign?
* Can you complete your goal within 4-6 months?
* Who are potential contributors within your community?
Personal Requests:
* Direct donation requests are the most successful method of fundraising, and WMC needs their strongest supporters help, you can ask by letter, email, phone or in person. Ask your friends to ask their friends to donate, and you'll cast a wider net for support!
Engage Local Businesses:
* Many local businesses provide matching funds for money raised in their community, or for employees who donate to your cause...WMC!
* If you're throwing an event, many businesses will underwrite in return for an opportunity to market themselves to your community as a supporter of off-off theater and WMC too.
* Obtaining in-kind contributions (e.g. materials, beer and liquor for events, etc.) for WMC is a huge help as well!

Fundraising Events
* Have some fun with your friends AND help WMC at the same time!*
- Host an award show party! Charge a cover, hand out ballots and the person with the most guessed winners gets a prize, email us to see if you can make the prize tickets to our next show or event!
- Organize a game in the park! Ultimate Frisbee, Kickball, Soccer... there are lots of fun ways to spend the day outside with friends, make it a competitive game and everyone puts in a contribution to play!
- Set-up a Karaoke Night! Sell tickets for a fun night of bad singing at the local bar or your apartment. Get people to donate money to stop their friends from singing or have a singing contest. Charge an entry fee, and have proceeds from the ticket sales go to your fundrasing goal!
- Hold a Benefit Tag Sale! Bringing another bag of clothes, shoes and other items cluttering up your apartment to Beacon's Closet or Goodwill? Have a tag sale for all your friends letting them know all the proceeds will go to WMC and then donate the rest to a local shelter!
- Hit up your Day Job! There are lots of ways to get the people at your day job involved if you get creative!
For example; If you work in an office, see if you can set up a "Pay $5 to wear jeans on Friday" event where the proceeds go to your goal!
