Mission Working Man's Clothes Productions is dedicated to developing and producing authentic and original theatre. Philosophy Working Man's Clothes is about keeping our nose to the grindstone and producing quality theatre. We believe in applying the spirit of American entrepreneurship to our work, and with only an artistic agenda, creating opportunities for playwrights, directors, designers, and actors to engage in creative collaborations. We believe that theatre can and will survive by building reciprocal working relationships with other artists, maintaining an unwavering commitment to excellence, and by sheer determination. History Working Man’s Clothes, established in 2005, has produced over some 20 plays never before seen in New York, through Main Stage Productions and various Theatre Festivals. Out of these productions we have had several plays published and we’ve been nominated alongside Obie award winning artists with Broadway credits for 12 New York Innovative Theater awards and our production of To Nineveh won 6 awards including: Outstanding Production, Outstanding Original Full Length Script, and Outstanding Ensemble. We also won the esteemed GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding New York Theatre Off Broadway in 2010.
We pride ourselves on doing daring, courageous work that incites, challenges, and entertains, but Working Man’s Clothes is more than just a production company producing great, new plays in New York City. Working Man’s Clothes is a creative home for hard working artists who want the chance to experiment artistically and engage in exciting, demanding work.
